Translation and Transcription

Teaching, Tutoring, and Coaching

I created materials from Star Wars (Hvězdné Války) to teach intermediate / advanced Czech (at UNC Chapel Hill). Not to worry: we used plenty of ‘native’ Czech materials as well. But my students (and I) were of a generation that grew up with the original trilogy- and it’s fascinating to see how Czechs ‘localized’ that for their own consumption. I had bought copies of the original trilogy dubbed into Czech on one of my trips to Prague- and then I used Czech online resources to generate training materials. Other work

I’m currently volunteering with the Texas Czech Legacy Project, investigating how AI might advance the cause of preserving this special dialect of Czech. More to come on this soon!

I volunteer with Translators Without Borders when there is Czech work available.

I am a member of the National Language Service Corps.
